La filière mangue a connu une campagne difficile à cause de la mauvaise qualité des fruits, a déploré, mardi, le Chef de la Division, législation phytosanitaire et de la quarantaine de la filière mangue au sein de la Direction de la protection des végétaux (DPV), Abdoulaye Ndiaye.
’’Il faut reconnaître que la campagne de cette année pour la filière mangue été particulièrement difficile à cause de la qualité de la mangue. Au niveau de l’Union européenne qui est notre principal marché, globalement, on a pu noter jusqu’à plus de 100 interceptions de containers’’, a-t-il dit.
Représentant le Directeur général de la DPV, Ndiaye intervenait lors de l’Assemblée générale sur le bilan des activités du Comité national de lutte contre les mouches des fruits et des activités du projet du Système régional innovant de lutte et de contrôle des mouches des fruits en Afrique de l’ouest (Syrimao).
Selon lui, même si le taux de conformité dépasse les 95%, ‘’une interception de container est de trop’’.
Il a fait savoir que l’objectif de cette AG-bilan est aussi de voir quelles sont les causes profondes de cette situation, mais également les mesures à prendre pour ne pas perdre le marché européen de la filière mangue.
Abdoulaye Ndiaye reconnaît que pour cette année, ‘’la lutte contre les mouches des fruits a fait défaut, causant d’énormes pertes de mangue dans les vergers’’.
Il a souligné que dans le cadre de la Zlecaf, ’’il est important de voir comment diversifier le marché, parce que celui de l’Europe est devenu très difficile, car dans leur réglementation, il n’est prévu aucun traitement de quarantaine à l’entrée’’.
Pour les Etats-Unis, dès l’instant qu’ils se rendent compte que le pays de provenance des mangues est infesté par la mouche, ’’obligatoirement ils font un traitement de quarantaine à l’entrée comme l’irradiation’’, a-t-il ajouté.
Dans sa présentation, le Docteur Assa Ballayara Diouf, responsable du centre de formation phytosanitaire à la DPV, a fait état, au mois d’août de la présence de plus de 15 millions de mouches, ce qui explique la cause de la mauvaise qualité de la mangue.
Pour Abdoulaye Ndiaye, si cette situation se poursuit, avec le dérèglement climatique, “on aura une importante multiplication de mouches du fait des conditions qui leur sont favorables’’.
Dans le cadre de la lutte contre la propagation des mouches des fruits, un système de surveillance a été mis en place.
Il s’agit, selon El Hadji Oumar Dieng, le coordonnateur du projet Syrimao d’un dispositif lancé dans les zones de production de mangues.
’’Cela permet de voir un peu l’évolution de la population des mouches des fruits. C’est un maillage que nous avons effectué sur chaque zone qui va nous permettre de façon hebdomadaire de faire le décompte du nombre de mouches. Un bulletin d’alerte est fourni périodiquement aux acteurs pour leur permettre de prendre leurs dispositions de lutte’’, a-t-il expliqué.
