Le Sénégal a été choisi parmi dix États membres de l’Organisation de l’aviation civile internationale (OACI) pour une étude de faisabilité sur la production de carburants d’aviation durables (SAF) en 2026. Cette initiative vise à accélérer la transition énergétique du secteur aérien et à réduire son empreinte carbone, a annoncé lundi 3 février 2025, l’Agence nationale de l’aviation civile et de la météorologie (ANACIM).
Un atelier régional pour sensibiliser les acteurs de l’aviation
Dans le cadre des préparations aux prochaines étapes de la production de SAF, un atelier régional de sensibilisation est organisé les 3 et 4 février 2025 au siège de l’ANACIM, point focal du Programme de compensation et de réduction des émissions de carbone pour l’aviation internationale (CORSIA).
Cet atelier rassemble divers acteurs clés de l’industrie aéronautique pour discuter des opportunités et défis liés à la production locale de ces carburants durables.
Parmi les participants figurent les ministères des Infrastructures et des Transports terrestres et aériens, de l’Environnement et de la Transition écologique, des Énergies, du Pétrole et des Mines, ainsi que des compagnies aériennes nationales et des gestionnaires d’aéroports tels que LAS (Limak-Aibd-Summa), AIBD SA, la société de manutention de carburants aviation (SMCADY) et la société de handling 2AS.
En plus des représentants sénégalais, une délégation venue du Togo participe également aux discussions, comprenant des membres de l’Agence nationale de l’Aviation civile du Togo, de la Direction des hydrocarbures et du ministère de l’Environnement.
Une aviation plus durable : un enjeu crucial
Le Directeur général de l’ANACIM, Dr Diaga Basse, a rappelé que l’aviation civile représentait environ 2 % des émissions mondiales de CO2 en 2019.
Avec l’augmentation continue du trafic aérien, cette part pourrait croître considérablement.
Les SAF offrent cependant une alternative prometteuse, permettant une réduction des émissions de CO2 pouvant aller jusqu’à 80 % sur leur cycle de vie complet, à condition de respecter les critères stricts de durabilité.
Un projet soutenu par l’Union européenne
L’atelier s’inscrit dans le Programme de renforcement des capacités pour l’atténuation des émissions de CO2 de l’aviation internationale en Afrique et dans les Caraïbes, un projet financé par l’Union Européenne et mis en œuvre par l’Agence de l’Union européenne pour la sécurité aérienne (EASA).
